I am elbow-deep in a pot of homemade chicken soup, but couldn’t be happier.
My secret ingredient has always been saffron; those expensive delicate red threads that loan a hint of bright yellow, and make my guests go “hmmmm, what is that flavor”? It has been used in Spanish yellow rice for centuries; but in my family, it has always shown up in chicken soup.
Never really did enjoy going out for NY Eve, so today works out just fine for us.
