An amazing and relevant song, recorded by Stevie Wonder in 1967 at the age of 17. It was recently featured in an ad for Apple.
I like the younger Stevie version a bit more.
Please notice the lyrics. Someday.
Someday at Christmas men won’t be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free
Someday at Christmas there’ll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life’s really worth
There’ll be peace on earth
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas we’ll see a man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care
Someday at Christmas there’ll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shining moment my heart ran away
From our world today
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime
Beautiful – thanks for posting the words! I saw the commercial this morning as a matter of fact, and thought it was great! 🙂
It was important in the turbulent 1960’s and still works today. You’re welcome, Kelly. ☮
I’m glad I can count on you to keep spreading hope and peace – especially now. xo
Sometimes, it’s the best thing we can do with our words.❤️
And you know how to do that expertly my dear! xoxo
HAPPPPPY BITHDAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! (It is today, yes? I’m behind in reading all my favorite blogs!!!!!) 💜❤️💙
Yep, thanks Dyane. ❤️ 💛 💙 💜
darn. Birthday! 😉 Not bithday! And I love the lyrics and I love Stevie Wonder and I love this song!
Ha…I kinda like “bith day”. Either way…thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the song. ❤️
He recorded that at the age of 17? I did not know that and had not expected him being so young in that song! Amazing. I love that song since I heard it the first time! Thank you so much for posting! A song that always gives me goose bumps and touches me deeply…. wet eyes, deep sigh!
He was/is a Wonder, Erika. That song works today in so many ways. Sigh…for sure. If, only. ❤️
Happy Birthday, Van!
Thanks so much, Laura. I am spoiling myself today. ❤️ 💙 💜
Glad to hear it!
If only…..
Happy Birthday, Van!!!
I hope you have the best day and weekend😀
Doing my best to make it a memorable one, George. Thanks. And..you’re so right…if only… 💜
Beautiful and that day can’t come soon enough.

Agreed, Diana. And in spite of all the negatives we hear, I believe most people do think this way. Thanks. ❤️

Let’s hope it’s in our lifetime of holidays, Diana. ❤️
Yes. Let’s hope. ❤
Beautiful!
I thought so, Robert, thanks. Keep hoping for that “someday”. ☺
It inspires me to come up with something. Maybe this years Christmas card can be an electronic reminder of all that is good about us.
Sounds great to me. 💕
Beautiful.
Someday…
Happy Birthday 🙂
Thanks so much, Sawsan. I believe it is possible. Just not sure how much pain and suffering needs to precede it.
It is possible!
Lovely song, with great lyrics.
Happy Birthday Van, have a wonderful day. 🙂
Thank you, Judy, it has been especially nice. ☺
Good, you certainly deserve it 🙂

Great lyrics and amazing voice!
Many of his recordings…timeless. Thank you for noticing. ☺
Wow, those lyrics just got to me…
I know…they seemed so right in the 1960’s and they still hold up. Thanks, Sandra. ☮ Some day.☮
Some day…
Awwwwww , happy birthday Van …you’re so beautiful , love , megxxx ( sorry so late )
Thank you, Meg. Not too late for me. 💕
Wow, I am covered in goosebumps, have a huge lump in my throat, and have tears in my eyes. The words just grabbed my Heart, Van. How so many long for Peace on Earth. This darkness must come to an end one day and when that day does come, all on Earth will rejoice!!! ❤
I believe in my heart that we’ll get there, Amy. There is so much more good on this earth than we hear about…that will prevail one day. Hugs. 💕
I agree with you, Van. When I am actually out in those places that are of Mother and some other places too, I always seem to run into the nicest people. The problem as I see it is the sensationalism of the news and how IF you feed your mind this it will eventually lead you into believing how awful this world is. I SEE good, and that is what I stand upon, my friend!!! So glad we are on the same page!! It is not easy at times to stay to the positive but with others who lift us up it gets a whole lot better. 🙂 ❤
Stevie Wonder is Stevie Wonder, but I like all his earlier songs better than later ones for some reason. This one sounds good, but also imparts an important message.
I agree on the early stuff, there is something so pure and innocent about his voice. ☺ thanks, fish.
!!! but yeah, everything changes…
If only.
I agree. ❤️
