Why do men get to have pockets in their pajamas ?

A simple, but important question on a Saturday morning in winter.

I found out many years ago that there is a huge disparity in the quality of garments made for men vs. women.

There was a time that I was buying a lot of gifts for teenage boys in the family.

I usually bought too many, and some that I liked, I kept for myself.

Years later, those men’s sweaters are still in great shape; no pilling, no torn fibers, colorfast, blocking still intact.

I can’t say the same for some equivalent women’s wear.

The same for socks. I bought some men’s white crews, by mistake, which have outlasted any “made for women” socks.

The tailor-made, unisex khakis that I once wore for work are now decades old, and still look like new.

The same goes for some designer shirts that I acquired when my son went to generic, non-label attire. Like new.

I once asked someone I knew in the industry why there is such a variance in quality. The answer…

“women change their mind and their fashion so very often; they don’t have to be made to last. “

Seriously.

A few years ago, I bought a pair of navy blue thermal men’s lounge pants. They are warm, comfy, durable and were half the cost.

And, they have pockets.
