The $1.00 Car Wash

After a week-long road trip, it was a welcome sign.car wash

CAR WASH $1.

A group of about 30 people, all ages, all races gathered with sponges, hoses, soap- filled buckets and towels and did an amazing job.

As I approached to pay, there was a surprise.

I was paid the one dollar by an older gentleman.

He said it was to make a point…that love is a gift and it is free, whether from man or anything that we call God.

He thanked me for the privilege of washing my car.

They represented a local community church, non-denominational, with a much-needed  message.

I left with the best smile ever. And a very clean car.

Brilliant.

I hope you don’t mind my sharing this. It’s such an important message. I wanted all my FB friends, many of whom are my kids young adult friends, to have a chance to process this idea and recognize good news for a change. Thanks again.

Wow. That is a wonderful story!

  11. Love it! With all the bad news in the world, Van, this is a sure sign that love will prevail. If we all respond to each tragedy with tenfold acts of kindness, the hate and evil in the world doesn’t stand a chance.

    • Like so many, the series of tragedies had me in a real funk. But, hope, love and optimism will get us out of this, I think. Thanks, always, for your kind response. 💕

If we could just make a change where we stand (and suds up) … that should be the sentiment. I love this idea. I’d want to join in and scrub, too.
