My plans for a busy day were ruined the moment I downloaded Linda’s new book.
It was much anticipated, maybe from the moment I met her in person last summer.
She and her mother have a gift for telling a story.
And it shows.
They took me back to a time and place that made me understand a lot more about my own family, and how they survived the Great Depression of the 1930’s.
They did it with love, devotion to family, tremendous sacrifice, hard work and most of all, a sense of humor.
Thank you for proving that it is possible to put that storytelling tradition in words on a page.
And thank you for ruining my plans of yesterday.
It was a delight.
**The book is now available in Kindle. I didn’t want to wait for the paperback.

One of the benefits of reading wordpress is to discover the wonderful artists and writers that abound. Thanks for the link, Van! I’ll check it out.
She is hilarious, as is her mother. If you don’t follow her, check out the blog. It’s special. ☺
Vic, I hope you enjoy.
Wow I have to get this book! She is wonderful
I agree, and the book is truly a treat, Lynn. ☺

I got totally lost in the memories, the language, the mood. It’s a good one, Sue. ☺ My pleasure. 💖
Thanks.
Thanks for the recommendation, Van. Linda’s blog is a delight and makes me laugh every time. A great sense of family and sense of humor 😀
I read it in two sittings, D. Hard to put down. Now, I want to hear more. I’m thinking, there’s a sequel or two in them both. 💝
Sounds like a great way to spend a day! 🙂
Oh wow! I can well imagine how good this is, with lots of chuckles and food for thought 🙂
So true, Jacqueline. I could feel the smile from the very first page. It made me appreciate what my grandparents experienced. Just a lovely read. 💕
I will definitely read it 🙂
I love Linda’s blog, too! You’re right. She has such a gift for storytelling. Thanks so much for sharing, Van. 😊
It has the exact same mood as her blog, with the same color and humor. Enjoyable. 💛 💙 💜
Thank you!
Linda and her mom are just incredible. As you know, they are in reality as they appear in and through their stories! I am looking forward to the paperback version because I have no ebook devices. I am so excited! 😃
You’re so right, Erika, authentic is the word. 💜 Just a note…I don’t have a kindle either, I downloaded the free kindle ap and read it on my laptop. You can get it through Amazon. There is a link on her page. ☺
Oh, that’s a good idea! I am still the old-fashioned reader but I am impatient too… lol! Thanks for the hint, Van! 💖
I like to touch that paper book, Erika. This is the first one I’ve read online. I blame Linda. ☺ But, I guess it was about time.
Haha, Linda makes us getting rid of our old habits… lol!
You can download free kindle app. I read lots of books that way.
Van said, there is an app. I will see how it works. I am curious 😊
I’m reading Linda’s book now. It’s like a collection of richly woven fables. I’m glad you gave her the review she deserves.
Isn’t it wonderful ? I really did catch myself in a smile… the whole way through. There were a few stories I remember from her blog, but so many more. Delightful. 💛 💙 💜
It’s magical…I love it.
Thanks, Robert.

A review of Everything Smells Just Like Poke Salad
💜 Thanks for the reblog, Robert. It was the easiest review to do, ever. ☺
Thanks, Robert
They are the absolute best kind of entertainment. They make my heart happy.
That’s a perfect description, Colleen. ❤️
Thank.
I have to go look up poke salad …. Will be right back.
I feel like I’m climbing a time warp in a different part of the world. Which is true, coming from Scotland! My family was always small and contained, even in the worst of times. It really is a breath of fresh air to touch into the embrace of larger families, survival and an undeniable hope for the future. The American spirit is right here❣
Well said…the American spirit. Her family has roots in 18th century Virginia, and both Scotland and Ireland. Small world, Val. 💖
It always reminds me of the folks that found the courage to leave, and those still there. 💛
I had to do the same. I only knew about an old song…Poke Salad Annie. ☺
Poke Salad is a wild, strong tasting green in Southern United States. It has to be twice-boiled with. first water thrown out. Otherwise it is toxic, causing nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps. It has deep purple inedible berries. Chickens eat them, getting copious purple diarrhea, staining their behalf nods, hence the phrase. “Wipe off some of that lipstick. Your mouth looks like a chicken’s ass in poke berry season.”
😂 😂 OMG. That is so much better than the Wikipedia version. Thanks. I’m dying here. 😂 😂
The charm of the South indeed! I had no idea … And appreciate the wisdom you share 😆
Very Welcome. I know the South!
Thank you for the suggestion, Van. I’ll have to check it out on an intended busy day..:)
That’s a plan, George. ☺
Thanks for the review, Van! I saw it in Rob’s blog. I started reading it yesterday. So far so good! 😊
Her blog is such a treat for me. ☺ I was sure this would be a special book. Thanks, Lisa. 💖
She’s funny! I really enjoy her blog. 😊
It’s a special one, for sure. ☺
😊 Those are the kinds of blogs I like!

Thanks for the recommendation, Van. I just followed her and am looking forward to reading her blog. 🙂
Thank you. I hope you enjoy. Following you now.
Thank you! I’m sure I will! Looking forward to your posts! 🙂
It’s unique, Kelly. Her family is a delightful cast of characters, and she and her mom, quite the voice of another era. 💝
Really sounds like an enjoyable read! Thanks, Van!
You should go to a reunion!
Waiting for that invitation….☺☺☺
Thanks Van. I am so glad I ruined your day. That boy was such a joy to write. We all begged for those stories. Mother always drooped what she was doing, got a faraway look and transported us. I heard them so many times I felt like I remembered.
What a record of her stories you have created. I’m proud to know you, wish you all the success this one deserves. 💕
