Day 5 in captivity.
But, there is hope.
We now have 1 full lane on our street.
We will have mail delivery.
Today, we go out to clear the 2nd floor windows.
And then, just for perspective…
This.

That is unbelievable! It must have really been crazy. Where exactly are you located?
Berks County, Pennsylvania. It’s getting better. Looking for a melt today…sunny and 40 degrees F. Fingers crossed. 🌞❄️ ☃️ 🌞
Oh yes, melting again! That means the snow gets wet and heavy. Glad you are all fine so far, Van 💖
We’re okay, Erika. Getting out today. No matter what ! ☺ Thanks.
YES!!! 👍
You had heaps of snow!!! Hope the melting won’t cause flooding… Stay safe and enjoy getting out!
We are getting hit with a huge rain storm today, Sandra. They are concerned about flooding. Fingers crossed. We live by a river.
Oh no! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
I feel for you, Van! I get stir crazy being cooped up too long. Is that your roof? I bought a roof rake this year, since I had so much on my roof last year. However, since I got it, we’ve had minimal snow. That vet is fantastic! Talk about resourceful!
Love that video. Stops the complaints dead in their track. Yep…that’s our roof. The drifts are not melting. We’re going out the bedroom windows today. ☺
I got a roof rake at Lowe’s for about 40.00 US. They extend pretty far and a bit safer than climbing out of the windows. 😀 I did that last year and it was precarious!
Thanks, Rob. We are just going out to the lower roof to clear our bedroom windows. No worries. One nice benefit, the snow on the windows has muffled all exterior noise…intensely quiet ! ☺
That is a great benefit to the snow! It certainly would mute the crows cacophony early in the morning.
I loved that video, wow!!!
I know. Not just an amputee, he is a brain cancer survivor. He inspires. 💕
I loved the pictures of your snow but had to comment on him! Yes he has been through so much! An amazing story so grateful to see it!
God less that man! No way is he going to let a disability keep him from doing what needs to be done. I have some lazy neighbors that definitely could take a lesson from him.
PS: Hopefully that snow will melt slowly and just slide off the roof, like it’s supposed to.
Thanks, CM. We could all take a lesson from him. And…sliding off the roof sounds great to me. ☺
Wow, Van. You put snow into perspective for me, with your captivity and the veteran’s industriousness. Thank you, my friend, and may you get two lanes on your road and all the mail you need to really catch up in life. ❤
The narrow lanes, the snow mountains blocking intersections, no mail or trash pickup…I know it’s a winter way of life for you up there, Mark. We’ll survive it. Thanks. 💖
Hang in there, Van. The Big Snow shakes up life here when it comes, too, have no doubt. I am rooting for your Big Melt. Be wary of the floods. Do you have a good sump pump (if you have a basement)?
Thanks, Mark. Good sump, dry basement for almost 20 years here. ☺
That’s great news for the melting to come, Van.
Is that a picture of your roof? Wow, you were dumped on. The beauty wears off after a while, doesn’t it? Great image of the Veteran. Some people just know how to get the job done!
Yes, indeed, our roof. We are thankful that it has held the weight, as the drifts have not diminished much since Saturday. Maybe today…good forecast. Thanks, Diana. 🌞 🌞 🌞
Crazy, crazy, weather. Last night, here in Alberta, it was +4°C and pouring rain. Hope you can dig yourself out before resorting to canabilism.
ha…hadn’t even entered my mind ??? ☺ We have stuff in the freezer, and like most people, except for fresh produce, we could eat for a month or so.
I hope it is clearing
Looks very promising, Derrick, thanks. ☺
I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award: http://suburbanhobo.com/2016/01/27/sunshine-blogger-award/
I recently went award-free, Erica, but thank you so much for the nomination. 💖
Sure thing.
After a few days of being cooped up, I’m ready to get out of the house, too. Be safe and stay warm! 🙂
We have some melting today, and I used my car for the first time since Friday. Yes !! ☺
Yay!! It’s so nice to get out after being inside for a while. The sun is out here as well. The weather forecast for Central Virginia is calling for temperatures in the low 60s this weekend. That should help melt the snow. 🙂
Good news. ☺
I hope you managed to get out today Van. You must be sick of the sight of snow by now! I loved the image of the vet ploughing the snow too! 🙂
Thanks, Judy. And…I did get out on the (narrow) road today. It was worth it. 😁
Wow. You really got hit over there! I’m glad we managed to miss this one. Still….do like the idea of snow insulating you from the sound…….hadn’t thought of that before. Hope you get some meltoff going on today!
The quiet is an unexpected bonus, Tonya. Thanks. ☺
I hope you got them cleared okay Van. Nothing worse than ice damming in these here parts!
True enough. The Schuylkill River looms large…just across the street. We are on a slight hill. That helps. Thanks, Val. ☺
Van, safe traveling in the snow! Hope you did get out today! Memories of snowbound days in kid hood come to mind! Full of fun! Would not be so today! Hope you have a Happy Wednesday! 💛Elizabeth
Got out a bit today…it was great. Thanks, Elizabeth ? Did you go with your middle name ? ❤️ Both sound great to me.
Great you got out! Yep, it’s my middle name. And the main character’s name in the book Sunset Inn (fiction based on real events). I like the sound of it better in the story. 💛Elizabeth
Van!!! Your house looks like what we went through in Winter Storm Knife! How many feet of snow fell? I honestly don’t know being so focused on life this week that is mad dash of *I NEED A VACATION*. Hope you and your family are safe! ❤
Officially, 31.5 inches, plus drifting. It surprised us all…we were forecast 12-18 at most. We are safe and coming out of our cabin fever. Thanks, Amy 💕
So glad all are safe! That’s a lot of snow for you. And yes the drifting is what usually is the problem. ❤
Maybe that is all we’ll get this winter ?? In that case…I’m ok with it, Amy. ☺
LOL I’m sure you are. Snow gets old really fast. Tee hee …
As for the Vet …. I had tears in my eyes. God bless him!!! ❤
I know. Inspirational. 💖
Hi friend
Looking pretty form Texas! Almost 70’s by end of week.
We haven’t had Mother Nature dump on us yet.
🙂
M
Ahhhh. 70’s. Some day. Not too soon, M, but some day. ☺ I actually like the cold…just don’t like the lack of mobility. ❤️
What an incredible person. Thanks for sharing that video. Really puts things in perspective. Glad you are okay and melting your way out! xo
It’s looking better each day, Kelly. More sunshine today. 🌞
🙂
Thank goodness for the slow melt we’ve been having and in the 50’s this weekend. So crazy..:)
Amazing video. You’re right about perspective. It’s something we all need sometimes.
So true, George, we need the reminder. 💕
WOW! Wow to your roof. Wow to that vet—god love him. And wow that storm was a monster.
Wow to that comment, Paul. Thanks. ☺
😀
Great video. Thanks for posting
It came at the right time for me, Rex. ☺
That video is dramatically inspiring, but I loved your intro, “Day 5 in captivity.” Oh the lolz!
I’m sure those of you in the Midwest understand, Joey. Thanks. ☺
I love the video…and love the idea that it’s been so cold that 40 feels warm…
I’ve nominated you for the “Champion Award”.
To find out more click here: http://wp.me/p47Ymh-3iU
As usual, if you are award free accept this nomination as a token of my appreciation…
Thanks so much, Rob. Much appreciated.💕 And yes…40 does feel warm these days. ☺
Wow. You must have a well-built house. My New Hampshire sis Meg gets out and shovels hers, and she has crippled hands.
It would be nice to know if any of those neighbors of that dude do anything for him: If they’ve dropped off dishes, offered group sex (if someone shoveled my walk all winter, I’d at least do him handsies), or at least bought batteries/fuel for the chair.
I hope they do reciprocate for that guy. In whatever format. lol. ☺
Good luck with this. Stay safe and hopefully by this time it is all cleared!!
Outstanding video.
We are in the great meltdown now, FC.🌞 Thanks. The video is a good one.
It is!
Wonderful!
Thanks, just as it was melting and we could see lawn again, the snow returned, and brought its frigid air. ❄️ ☃️ ⛄️ 💨
Hopefully, winter will be over soon and finally, spring will arrive!
☺
