Day 5 in captivity.

Snow Drifts on Roof

But, there is hope.

We now have 1 full lane on our street.

We will have mail delivery.

Today, we go out to clear the 2nd floor windows.

And then, just for perspective…

This.

That is unbelievable! It must have really been crazy. Where exactly are you located?

  2. The V-Pub says:

I feel for you, Van! I get stir crazy being cooped up too long. Is that your roof? I bought a roof rake this year, since I had so much on my roof last year. However, since I got it, we’ve had minimal snow. That vet is fantastic! Talk about resourceful!

    • Love that video. Stops the complaints dead in their track. Yep…that’s our roof. The drifts are not melting. We’re going out the bedroom windows today. ☺

      • The V-Pub says:

I got a roof rake at Lowe’s for about 40.00 US. They extend pretty far and a bit safer than climbing out of the windows. 😀 I did that last year and it was precarious!

      • Thanks, Rob. We are just going out to the lower roof to clear our bedroom windows. No worries. One nice benefit, the snow on the windows has muffled all exterior noise…intensely quiet ! ☺

      • The V-Pub says:

That is a great benefit to the snow! It certainly would mute the crows cacophony early in the morning.

  3. I loved that video, wow!!!

  4. God less that man! No way is he going to let a disability keep him from doing what needs to be done. I have some lazy neighbors that definitely could take a lesson from him.

PS: Hopefully that snow will melt slowly and just slide off the roof, like it’s supposed to.

Wow, Van. You put snow into perspective for me, with your captivity and the veteran’s industriousness. Thank you, my friend, and may you get two lanes on your road and all the mail you need to really catch up in life. ❤

  6. Is that a picture of your roof? Wow, you were dumped on. The beauty wears off after a while, doesn’t it? Great image of the Veteran. Some people just know how to get the job done!

    • Yes, indeed, our roof. We are thankful that it has held the weight, as the drifts have not diminished much since Saturday. Maybe today…good forecast. Thanks, Diana. 🌞 🌞 🌞

  7. Crazy, crazy, weather. Last night, here in Alberta, it was +4°C and pouring rain. Hope you can dig yourself out before resorting to canabilism.

  8. After a few days of being cooped up, I’m ready to get out of the house, too. Be safe and stay warm! 🙂

  9. Judy Martin says:

I hope you managed to get out today Van. You must be sick of the sight of snow by now! I loved the image of the vet ploughing the snow too! 🙂

  10. A.PROMPTreply says:

Wow. You really got hit over there! I’m glad we managed to miss this one. Still….do like the idea of snow insulating you from the sound…….hadn’t thought of that before. Hope you get some meltoff going on today!

  11. Val Boyko says:

I hope you got them cleared okay Van. Nothing worse than ice damming in these here parts!

  12. C.E.Robinson says:

Van, safe traveling in the snow! Hope you did get out today! Memories of snowbound days in kid hood come to mind! Full of fun! Would not be so today! Hope you have a Happy Wednesday! 💛Elizabeth

Van!!! Your house looks like what we went through in Winter Storm Knife! How many feet of snow fell? I honestly don’t know being so focused on life this week that is mad dash of *I NEED A VACATION*. Hope you and your family are safe! ❤

  14. AmyRose🌹 says:

As for the Vet …. I had tears in my eyes. God bless him!!! ❤

  15. Hi friend
Looking pretty form Texas! Almost 70’s by end of week.
We haven’t had Mother Nature dump on us yet.

What an incredible person. Thanks for sharing that video. Really puts things in perspective. Glad you are okay and melting your way out! xo

  17. George says:

Thank goodness for the slow melt we’ve been having and in the 50’s this weekend. So crazy..:)
Amazing video. You’re right about perspective. It’s something we all need sometimes.

  18. WOW! Wow to your roof. Wow to that vet—god love him. And wow that storm was a monster.

  19. Great video. Thanks for posting

That video is dramatically inspiring, but I loved your intro, “Day 5 in captivity.” Oh the lolz!

  21. I love the video…and love the idea that it’s been so cold that 40 feels warm…

I’ve nominated you for the “Champion Award”.

To find out more click here: http://wp.me/p47Ymh-3iU

As usual, if you are award free accept this nomination as a token of my appreciation…

  22. Outlier Babe says:

Wow. You must have a well-built house. My New Hampshire sis Meg gets out and shovels hers, and she has crippled hands.

It would be nice to know if any of those neighbors of that dude do anything for him: If they’ve dropped off dishes, offered group sex (if someone shoveled my walk all winter, I’d at least do him handsies), or at least bought batteries/fuel for the chair.

  23. Good luck with this. Stay safe and hopefully by this time it is all cleared!!
    Outstanding video.
